Dr. Karim Lekadir (PI) is ICREA Research Professor and Director of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Lab (BCN-AIM) at the University of Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Medical Image Computing from Imperial College London (UK) and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier II (France). He was previously a visiting scholar at Stanford University (USA).

As part of the EarlyCause H2020 project at BCN-AIM, she is developing and validating predictive models of individual-specific multi-morbidity trajectories from heterogeneous longitudinal ELS-related data.

With a PhD in molecular biology/virology and 10 years in the diagnostic industry, her work spanned a wide range of areas from antiviral drug resistance, companion diagnostics, pharmacogenetics, clinical trials, COVID-19 and a genomics study for prenatal diagnosis. Those projects sparked a special interest in personalised/genomic medicine.
